Course Outcomes

  • Apply knowledge of wound anatomy and physiology to patient assessment

  • Design and implement wound management plans

  • Apply evidence-based principles to professional wound management practice

  • Assess, manage and prevent pressure-related injuries

  • Assess and manage wounds caused by surgical and nonsurgical trauma

  • Assess and manage patients with lower leg ulceration related to circulatory insufficiency

  • Assess and manage patients at high risk of foot ulceration and amputation

 

Wound Resource Nurse, Role Expectations

  • Support and assist ward manager/leader in providing and maintaining excellent standards of wound care for patients within the ward environment

  • Clinical ward resource nurse - i.e. resource and information provider on patient wound management care within the clinical ward environment, as requested by ward manager

  • Develop ward based wound clincila rsources

  • Provide ward based in-service education and resources

  • Support master trainer with on-going education as appropriate
