Dr. de Silva holds a MD degree by National Osaka University and the unrestricted Japanese Medical License by the Ministry of Health. He has undergone a Combined Surgery and Anesthesia training at the University of Osaka Medical School Hospital, Japan. Dr. de Silva has followed a University of Hawaii Surgery/ Obstetrics/ Gynecology training program at Queen’s Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. He entered the Master’s in Public Health (MPH) Program at the University Of Hawaii School Of Public Health under a federal grant. He completed the OB-GYN residency program and passed the Federal Licensing Examination (FLEX) and obtained an unrestricted medical license in the State of Hawaii. He has completed the MPH degree with emphasis on Maternal and Child Health.
Dr. de Silva has worked as an Associate Clinical Professor of OB-GYN at the University of Hawaii as well as at Stanford University USA
His international professional experience include working as the Head of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Kaiser Permanente Hospital Network Hayward, California. USA.
He has worked as the Chief Primatologist for ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company) Hospitals in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia as well.
Head of Academic Affairs - Dr.P.George Perera- PhD, MS (Fordham University, New York City)
Dr. George Perera has obtained his doctoral degree in Division of Curriculum and Teaching from School of Education, Fordham University, New York City in 2008. He has completed Masters of Science majoring in Adult Education & Human Resource Development with TESOL at School of Education, Fordham University, New York City. He has obtained three degrees as Bachelor of Arts, University of Kelaniya, Bachelor of Thelogy and Bachelor of Philosophy form Urban University of Rome. He has experience for 18 years in the education industry. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, International Honor Society, American Educational Research Association etc. Dr. George is full time employed at IIHS in the capacity of Head of Academic Affairs.
Mrs. P. L. Jayawardhana- M. Sc. Nursing (Australia), B.Sc. Nursing
Head – Faculty of Nursing
Mrs. Jayawardena is a registered nurse with more than 30 years. She was the Principal at Nursing School in Kandana. She has obtained a Master of Nursing from University of J’Pura and University of Adelaide, Australia. She has received her Bachelor of Nursing from the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL). She has 24 years of tutoring experience in Nursing Schools in Sri Lanka. Currently she is working as the Head of the Nursing faculty of International Institute of Health Sciences.
Sr. Geraldine Michel- RN, BSc., Msc (Australia)

Sr. Geraldine Michael is a registered nurse in Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and Sri Lanka Medical Council. She has over 17 years of experience as Nurse in Sri Lanka as well as in Australia.
Sr. Pricilla John Baptist- BSc. Nursing (Austrailia) Senior Lecturer – Faculty of Nursing
Sr. Pricilla John Baptist is a registered nurse in Sri Lanka as well as in Australia. She has more than 10 years experience as a nurse and currently she is working as registered nurse and tutor in Holy Cross Health centre.
Dilum Rasali Weliwita- M.Sc., B.Sc. Nursing (Adult) UK

She has obtained B.Sc. Nursing (Adult) from university of middlesex, London/ UK. She has obtained a Certificate Course in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from UOC in 2012, She has also followed other academic programmes related to Nursing Development management and Leadership ,Physiology for Nurses, Diabetes care for Adult, Clinical Teaching And Assessing. She has worked as the Deputy Manager at ST. THOMAS HOSPITAL NHS TRUST, LONDON/UK, Nurse Practitioner HONEY POT MEDICAL CENTER – HARROW PCT, Senior Staff Nurse /Nurse in charge at the GUY’S and ST. THOMAS HOSPITAL NHS TRUST, LONDON / UK, Nurse In Charge at BUPA HEALTHCARE SERVICES – HEATHGROVE LODGE, LONDON UK and as a Junior Staff Nurse at GUY’S and ST. THOMAS HOSPITAL NHS TRUST, LONDON / UK. Currently she is a visiting lecturer at IIHS.
Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe- MBBS, MSc. MD (Medical Administration), Cert.IV TAA (Austrailia)
Head – Faculty of Health Management
Dr. Edirisinghe has over 12 years experience in state health sector and almost 10 years experience in private health sector. He is also an expert in Hospital Project Management and Hospital Operational Management. He established and operationalized a large chain of hospitals in the private sector. He has been in the healthcare training and development for 10 years and Possess Certificate IV in Training and assessment and he is also a Certified Master Trainer, Australia. Dr Edirisinghe is a Visiting lecturer at Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, UOC and the head of the faculty of management at IIHS. He was the selected candidate to represent Sri Lanka in International Visitor Leadership Program 2012 by USA, Department of State Bureau and Cultural Affairs and a pioneer in organizing International undergraduate and Post graduate level nursing programs in Sri Lanka. He was awarded the entrepreneur of the year by Asian Grid awards, India in 2009.
Dr. Nishan Silva- MBBS Senior Lecturer
Dr. Nishan Silva has obtained his MBBS qualification from Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He was the Intern Medical Officer for General Surgery of Ward numbers 27, 38 at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. Intern Medical Officer for General Medicine at the Ward numbers 43 and 47A of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka. He was also a Relief House officer for the Wards 55, (General Medicine), National Hospital of Sri Lanka. Currently he is working as a General Practitioner, Senior House Officer in General Medicine of the Wards 43 and 47A at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka and also employed as a Lecturer, International Institute of Health Sciences.
Dr. Madushani Silva- MBBS
Dr. Madushani Silva has obtained her MBBS qualification from Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo in 2011. She has worked as a Ward Medical Officer at St. Peter’s Private Hospital in Ragama, Sri Lanka. She has also worked as a Intern Medical Officer in General Medicine in the Ward numbers 9 and 12 at the North Colombo Teaching Hospital in Ragama, Sri Lanka. Also worked as a Intern Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Ward numbers 14 and 17 for North Colombo Teaching Hospital in Ragama, Sri Lanka. Currently she works as a General Practitioner as a Relief House Officerfor General Surgery at the Wards 5 and 8 for North Colombo Teaching Hospital in Ragama, Sri Lanka. She also works as a Medical Officer Emergency Treatment Unit at the Hemas Hospital in Wattala. And she is also a Lecturer at International Institute of Health Sciences.
Nirmala Priyadarshanie- BSc. Nursing (Hons)
Lecturer -Faculty of Nursing/ Coordinator – Diploma in General Nursing
Ms. M.Nirmala Priyadarshanie, MSc. Nursing student at the Open University Malaysia and program coordinator and lecturer at IIHS. She has successfully completed her BSc. in Nursing (Hons) Degree with a second class at University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She has presented her research paper on the topic of Mothers’ Knowledge Regarding Neonatal Baby Care at the renowned 2nd Global Health Care Conference which was held in Singapore on 8th and 9th July. Currently she is working as a Lecturer/Coordinator at IIHS from July 2013 up to now. And also has one year working experience as a staff nurse at the Intensive Care unit, Lanka Hospital (PLC), Sri Lanka.
Anuradha Perera- BSc. Nursing (Special) Elective Training in Sweden (Maternity, Paediatric and Community)
Lecturer -Faculty of Nursing/ Coordinator – Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled) Sri Lanka
She has successfully completed her Bachelor’s degree in nursing(special) at University of Sri Jayewardenepura as the top of her batch with a GPA of 3.4 She was awarded a scholarship to Sweden and she was trained Maternal & New born Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Global Health and Community Health Nursing at Kristianstad University Sweden. She is a full time Lecturer and Program Coordinator at IIHS, conducting Theory and Clinical Skills training for OUM, DGN, TAFE, and DENSL students and coordinating the DENSL Program.
Miriam Shirmila Josiah- Associate of Science Degree in Nursing
Lecturer -Faculty of Nursing/ Coordinator – Certificate in Health Science – Pathway to Nursing
She has successfully completed her professional Nurses training at the Associated College of Health Sciences. She attained an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing, graduating with a GPA of 3.57. She was awarded the Gold Medal for the performance of best all-rounder in 2008. Currently she is reading for Cert IV in Training and Education (TAE) from Tafe SA. She is a full time Lecturer and Program Coordinator at IIHS, conducting Theory and Clinical Skills training for DGN, DPHY, TAFE, and DENSL students and coordinating the Tafe Auspice Program and the Masters in Nursing Program from Open University Malaysia.
Tharindu Dushyantha Dewalagama- Diploma in General Nursing
Lecturer -Faculty of Nursing/ Coordinator – Certificate 111 in Aged Care
Mr. Dushyantha has successfully completed the Diploma in General Nursing with a GPA of 3.6. He also has completed the Certificate III in Aged Care programme conducted by Charlton Brown University of Australia. He is currently reading for Bachelors in Nursing (Final Semester) conducted by Open University Malaysia. He is also an Internal Lecturer at International Institute of Health Sciences. He has been lecturing for the past 2.5 years.

She is currently reading for Masters in Applied Organic Chemistry in University of Colombo. She has successfully completed her Bachelor’s degree in Science in University of Kelaniya. She is a full time Lecturer and Program Coordinator at IIHS, conducting Theory and Practical for Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Specializing in Biotechnology) and Certificate in Biological Sciences Students. She is currently coordinating the Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Specializing in Biotechnology) and Certificate in Biological Sciences Programs.
Rajah Sukashini- BSc Physiotherapy (INDIA), SLMC Registered
Head – Faculty of Physiotherapy
She has graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore. She has clinical experience of 7 years in various divisions of physiotherapy and teaching experience of 2 years. Her interests are to build a career as an efficient and dedicated professional in the medical field, adapting the modern techniques and methods in due course and implementing the same in an effective way for the welfare of the humans. She is passionate about rehabilitation and pain relieving methodologies including Electrotherapy and Exercise therapy. Her Research areas include Geriatric Rehabilitation and Exercises the Sole of pain relief.
K.P Niranja Harshani Kanuwana- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore), SLMC Registered Lecturer -Faculty of Physiotherapy
She is a physiotherapist with 3 ½ years exposure in pediatric & OBG wards, CCU, ICU, Physiotherapy OPD, Orthopedic wards, General medicine wards and General surgery wards. She has a sound knowledge in aerobic trainings, fitness diet and nutrition, pre and postnatal fitness training sound knowledge in primary and advanced pilates training, spinning training. She is well aware of yoga therapy as well. She has been a lecturer at International Institute of health Sciences for the past 4 years.
Manisha Gunasekara- BA (Eng.) University of Peradeniya, Diploma in HRM & OB, IELTS trainer
Head –Employability Skills Unit
Ms. Manisha has obtained her degree Bachelor of Arts (English) from University of Peradeniya and completed a diploma in HRM & Organizational Behavior. She has started her career as lecturer in English and IELTS. She has experience of 3 ½ years as a lecturer in English and IELTS. She is excelled at curriculum designing, lesson plan designing and lecturing. Ms. Manisha has attended several workshops in ‘IELTS Teacher Training’ organized by British Council and also trained as a interlocutor for ESOL/SESOL programmes, City & Guilds. Ms. Manisha is full time employed at IIHS in the capacity of Head of Occupational Skills Department/Assistant Registrar.
